As a Northern California wedding photographer, I’ve shot at a multitude of different wedding venues in the area. According to wedding-spot.com, there are roughly 550 venues in the NorCal area altogether. I know that’s a crazy amount, right? That’s why I’ve laid out my top 5 favorite Northern California wedding venues for you so that you don’t have to go crazy trying to figure out which ones are worth looking at!

1. Vizcaya Sacramento – An Elegant Victorian-Style Estate
My first choice is Vizcaya Sacramento, and I love this one because the whole space is so beautiful! It has a Victorian feel to it, a stunning outdoor ceremony location, and a perfect bridal suite with all the natural light for beautiful photos! Moreover, it has so many hidden gems for photo spots that will give so much variety in your final wedding gallery! Locations could include their courtyard which has a beautifully kept garden, their stunning trademark fountain, or indoor options like using the natural lighting from their floor-to-ceiling windows!
2. Newcastle Wedding Gardens – A Charming Rustic Barn Venue
The second one is Newcastle Wedding Gardens in Newcastle, CA! It has a quiet, intimate garden setting space for the ceremony with a beautiful 200-year-old oak tree. They even have a tumbling waterfall and koi pond nearby which makes for such a relaxing atmosphere! Receptions are held in their updated Rustic Horse Barn, garden lights are everywhere, and the whole property is breathtaking! Not to mention the in-house catering is absolutely delicious!

3. Sequoia Mansion by Wedgewood Weddings – A Victorian Chic Venue
The third one is Sequoia Mansion by Wedgewood Weddings in Placerville, CA. Both the outdoor and indoor ceremony options are beautiful at this venue! There are so many spots to do all the photos for the whole day such as a beautiful staircase, stained glass windows, or their charming outdoor garn area! They even have a cozy hand-carved 19th-century fireplace you and your lover can snuggle up with together. The venue offers natural light throughout, including the HUGE bridal suite. Plus they offer wedding packages for every budget!
4. The BLOC Venue – A Modern Industrial Style Venue
The BLOC venue in Roseville, CA has a very modern feel to it but has the ability to be transformed into anything! The great thing about this venue is you can take the open space and create whatever you envision for your wedding! I love the brick walls, and industrial-type feel to it. It has many different options for photos throughout your day. You can bring in your own vendors, and they also have a lot of rental items to choose from!
Catta Verdera Country Club | A Spanish Style Northern California Wedding Venue
Lastly, is the Catta Verdera Country Club in Lincoln, CA. I love this venue because it has gorgeous architectural pieces that are stunning in photos! It also sits on a 335-acre valley with views of the rolling hills and beautiful oaks from afar! The bridal suite is very large and comfortable, it has options for indoor and outdoor ceremony sites, its large ballroom is perfect for receptions, and I love their quaint, outdoor cocktail area!
